A project for 24-672: DIY Design and Fabrication course at Carnegie Mellon: The assignment was to make three final sketches. One product sketch, one ideation sketch, and one explanation sketch.

Product Sketch

I chose to sketch one of my favorite products: my NA Mazda Miata. I had never looked so closely at the shape and lines of the car, but sketching it gave me even more appreciation. The product sketch required shading and shadows which can be seen on the left.

Ideation Sketch

The ideation sketch required that we take a product type, such as a guitar, and play around with different shapes and ideas through sketching. I chose to have a wide range of both acoustic and electric guitar designs, and just stopped when I had filled the page.

Explanation Sketch

The explanation sketch was intended to show off the molding process from the molding assignment. The goal was to make the process clear enough that anyone with the sketch could make a solid attempt at silicone molding themselves.
